NOVIUS proprietary 3D technology is applied to X-ray fluoroscopic images to create quasi-3D image, which is used to detect lesion. This is a joint project to apply NOVIUS proprietary AI 3D technology to X-ray fluoroscopic images and to make it possible to find lesions in quasi-3D images, there by reducing the physical burden on patients.
The above functions aim to improve the accuracy of lung cancer diagnosis and to prevent lesions from being left behind. Furthermore, the physical burden on medical personnel, adiologists, and patients can be much reduced as a result of lower radiation doses due to shorter examination time, and more patients can be treated per day, saving more lives of cancer patients.
Distinctive and innovative features of this project
Two companies in USA have developed robotic bronchoscope to improve the diagnosis rate of bronchoscopic biopsies, but they are too expensive. On the other hand, NOVIUS AI3D technology for fluoroscopic images is simple and expensive, and the results of this new technology can be widely applied to fluoroscopic examinations, such as percutaneous coronary intervention. Depth prediction using monocular camera has been developed mainly for automated driving technology, and the asic technology has been stablished. In recent years, AI technology has been introduced into the medicine, mainly in the diagnostic imaging area, but the application to X-ray fluoroscopic images as described in this proposal is unprecedented, and the results are expected to be significant.
